About Jackie

Jackie Johnson is a freelance hair and makeup artist with over 22 years of experience helping clients feel confident, polished, and authentically beautiful. A Chester County, Pennsylvania native, Jackie grew up locally and attended West Chester East High School. A self-described tomboy in her early years, her interest in beauty began to take shape during her teenage years, influenced by her mother’s simple but lasting advice: always cleanse and moisturize your face twice a day. That foundation sparked a lifelong appreciation for skincare and beauty — a philosophy that still guides her work today.

Jackie began her professional career in beauty at Nordstrom in 2001, where she trained and worked with prestigious brands including Lancôme, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Trish McEvoy, and MAC Cosmetics. Early on, she recognized that many women invest in makeup and hair products without ever being shown how to properly use them — a realization that shaped her passion for education and personalized beauty.

Following her love of travel and inspired by her sister, a professional pilot, Jackie spent time working as a flight attendant before ultimately returning to her true passion in beauty. While building her career, she began providing makeup services for weddings on weekends, quickly developing a loyal clientele.

Jackie later launched Bella by Jackie, built on the belief that beauty should enhance — not mask — a person’s natural features. Today, she provides on-location hair and makeup services throughout West Chester and the greater Philadelphia region.

Wanting to offer a complete beauty experience, Jackie committed herself to mastering hair styling through extensive online education and hands-on practice with styling hair for QVC and her friends.  Her dedication transformed her into a full-service artist, blending technical skill with an approachable, calming presence clients value on important occasions.

While Jackie is known for creating timeless looks for weddings, media, and special events, her true passion lies in teaching clients how to confidently do their own hair and makeup. She believes great beauty begins with healthy skin, starting with the foundation of proper cleansers and moisturizers, and focuses on educating clients so they can recreate polished, natural looks long after their appointment.

In addition to bridal and special event work, Jackie freelances with NBC 10 Philadelphia, NBC Universal, the Philly POPS, and QVC, styling hair and applying makeup for on-air talent, celebrities, musicians, politicians, and Broadway performers. Her portfolio spans countless weddings as well as grooming and styling services for both women and men.

Known for her warm personality, attention to detail, and ability to create timeless, elevated looks, Jackie’s mission remains simple: to help every client look and feel like the best version of themselves while learning how to embrace their own beauty.
